The brand launched in 2020 on the heels of COVID, of George Floyd, of a collective burnout so deep that the only honest response left was we deserve to stop. Charese, with over two decades of fashion industry experience, had spent years building legacies for other people’s brands. In 2020, she decided it was time to build her own.

The name says everything. Je Mérite, French for “I deserve”, is not just a brand name. It is an affirmation Charese sends to her community every single week.
